OPPO A7

The Chinese smartphone giant OPPO has further expanded its portfolio with the launch of the new OPPO A7 smartphone in multiple Asian markets, including China, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It is a toned-down sibling of the Helio P60-powered A7X that came back in September. The main highlights of the device are its glossy glass back, water-drop notch and a large battery. As for the specs, the OPPO A7 sports a 6.2-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution of 720x1520 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass while the little water-drop notch on top aids to an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 88.3%. Moving on, it packs in Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU at its core and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage as of China while the other regions also get a 3GB RAM and 32GB model. Note that the storage can be expanded further (up to 256GB) using the given MicroSD card slot. For photography, the phone gets a pair of dual cameras at the rear including a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture clubbed with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor having an aperture of f/2.4. The camera is touted to be capable of shooting studio quality portrait images adorned by AI beauty technology, and also, using multi-frame image stabilisation technology to record vivid videos. At the front, we have a 16-megapixel camera unit for selfies. On the software front, the Oppo A7 runs ColorOS 5.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and draws its juice from a large 4,230mAh battery. Connectivity options including dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB with OTG support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are given onboard; followed by the accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and proximity sensors. It measures 155.9x75.4x8.1mm and weighs 168 grams. On looking closely, you'll get to know that the A7 is nothing but a re-branded version of the Realme 2 with some minor changes here and there. As far as the pricing is concerned, the OPPO A7 is priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,500) for the sole 4/64GB model in China while it carries a tag of NPR 35,790 (around Rs. 22,200) for the 3/32GB variant in Nepal. It will go on sale in Fresh Powder, Lake Light Green, and Amber Gold colour options with glossy glass back, starting from Nov 22 in the Chinese market whereas the latter region will get Glaring Gold and Glaze Blue colours with a textured back panel instead. As of now, we don't have any official wordings on the Indian availability, but it is being speculated that OPPO might launch it on 22nd of November in the country. Stay tuned.
