Korean giant Samsung has tied-up with online retailer Flipkart to sell its latest 40-inch curved smart TV. Samsung has over 2,100 exclusive stores in India and a retail footprint of over 1.5 lakh stores across the country. They have cut a deal with Flipkart primarily to meet the growing demands of online shoppers across the country, thanks to Flipkart’s huge presence in the online marketplace.
“The strength of Samsung in the television category and specifically smart televisions is going to significantly bolster our existing 20% smart television portfolio. Consumers today are continuously looking to buy high-quality products, and what better than to provide them easy access to a market leader like Samsung,” said Sandeep Karwa, Head Large Appliance at Flipkart.
Samsung’s latest 40-inch curved Smart TV rocks a full HD (1920X1080) display. It features three HDMI ports, 2 USB slots and comes with Wi-Fi Direct and Ethernet connectivity. The TV has two speakers and is equipped with sound technologies which include Dolby digital and DTS codec. Priced at Rs. 68,900, the television is now open for bookings and will be delivered by Flipkart in three days.
According to Flipkart, the television market in India is expected to grow to 42,000 crore by 2020. The 40-inch size bracket already captures a market share of 25 percent and is expected to grow by 50 percent in the next two years.
In other related news, Samsung today also launched its new Galaxy On5 Pro and Galaxy On7 Pro smartphones in India, successors to last year’s Samsung Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7. The Galaxy On5 Pro has been priced at Rs. 9,190 and the Galaxy On7 Pro gets a price tag of Rs. 11,190. Both smartphones are exclusively available on Amazon.
Key similarities between the two include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of inbuilt storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD slot. Both smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and come equipped with the S bike mode feature.
