Samsung launches Galaxy S8 Active rugged smartphone with 5.8-inches Quad HD display

After being in the news several times and getting leaked a couple of times, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S8 Active, rugged smartphone. It comes with metal frame and a body that is the shock, shatter, water, and dust-resistant and also comes with Bixby assistant. The device will be AT&T exclusive for some time.

Pricing and Availability: The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active comes in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold colors. The device will be available from August 11 exclusively from AT&T for $28.34 for 30 months, bringing the total to $850 (Rs. 54255 approx.) and will go on pre-order from tomorrow, August 8th.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active rocks a 5.8-inches Quad HD+ (2960 × 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 570ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform Octa-Core Qualcomm with Adreno 540 GPU coupled with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB storage (UFS 2.1) that is further expandable via a microSD card. It runs on Android Nougat with TouchWiz U.I on top.

Moving to the camera department, there is a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.55″ sensor size, OIS, 1.4µm pixel size. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel auto focus shooter with f/1.7 aperture, 1/3.6″ sensor size, 1.22µm pixel size, 80-degree wide-angle lens for better wide-angle selfies and video chats. The Galaxy S8 Active features Water and dust resistant (IP68) + MIL-STD-810G.

Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB 3.1, and NFC. A whopping 4000mAh battery with fast charging support is on board.
