Micromax Bharat 1 is a feature phone from Micromax with Android OS installed (yes, it is as complicated as it seems). Bharat 1 is basically a feature phone with an alphanumeric keypad and everything which a feature phone comes with. But at the same time, it comes with features like Android OS and Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which we only find on a smartphone. The price of the Micromax Bharat 1 has been set to Rs. 2,399 and is available to buy from online stores like Amazon.in. Let’s see how smart this feature phone is and is it better than other 4G VoLTE feature phones in the market.
Design and Specifications
Micromax Bharat 1 has a very basic feeling to it with a bit chunky design which is not an issue because it fits perfectly in the hands. The phone is all made out of plastic and has a removable back cover as every feature phone has. The screen is quite big and bright for a feature phone and has a front-facing VGA camera above the display.
The alphanumeric keypad is clicky and feels like made out of suitable plastic material. There is an LED torch at the top side and microUSB port for data sync and charging at the bottom side. The 3.5 mm audio port is also located at the bottom side of the phone. The primary 2MP camera is located at the back of the phone with the Micromax branding on the bottom half.
Removing the back cover reveals the massive 2000 mAh battery, it looks small in form factor, but it can hold more charge than some of the budget smartphones. Under the battery is Overall the Micromax Bharat 1 has the best design and build quality I have ever seen on a feature phone at this price.
Software
At the software part, the Micromax Bharat 1 has the most advanced OS ever used on a feature phone; Android OS. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat; it is a trimmed version of it to make it work perfectly with navigation keys and alphanumeric keys. The OS has very limited apps preinstalled on the phone, but it has the most important app pre-built; WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is the only app which is impossible to get on any other feature phone in the market. Other than this, the phone has all the necessary apps like browser, Facebook, YouTube, music, videos and a Fun app from Micromax to access Live TV on the go. The software is very smooth and works pretty smooth with no lag whatsoever. Micromax has blocked the apk installation which is good for security and performance of the phone.
Performance and Specifications
Micromax Bharat 1 has the simplest and the smoothest user interface, and every option of the Android OS can be accessed using the navigation keys and the selection key. Because Micromax already blocked the app sideload, there is no way that the smartphone can lag or freeze at anywhere.
