Mercedes-Benz launches all new A-Class hatchback in India, price starting at Rs. 27 lakhs

Mercedes-Benz India is poised to introduce the 2015 edition of its famed premium hatchback A-Class in India today. The automobile has mechanical changes as well as cosmetic ones. The car will be the 15th and the last automobile to be introduced by the German automobile maker in 2015.

The car is available in petrol as well as diesel variants. It competes against the Mini Cooper and BMW 1 Series in India. The A-Class comes at a price range of Rs. 27 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

There are new bumpers at the front and the rear. There is an upgraded headlamp cluster with LED headlamps as well as upgraded tail lamps. Buyers get a brand new bumper with a better design and bigger air intakes as well as an upgraded rear bumper with a fresh exhaust tip.

The new automobile comes with a set of fresh wheels. The car looks a lot classier now by virtue of the new character lines that can be viewed on its side profile, while the rear end remains quite same, with the exception of the new LED tail lamps.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class comes with a fresh steering wheel and fresh dashboard trim levels. There is a revamped 8-inch central screen as well as ambient lighting with a range of 12 different colors. Also available on the central console is a chrome bezel and more leather interior choices. The dials have a fresh bezel and a modified design. The higher versions come with a chequered flag pattern.

The car has both diesel and petrol engines. The diesel engine has 2.1-litre capacity that generates 135PS of peak power as well as 300Nm of peak torque while the petrol engine capacity is a 1.6-litre turbocharged one generating 122PS of peak power as well as 200Nm of peak torque.

Both types of engines are attached to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox as well as a front wheel drive drivetrain. The “ECO display” also assumes a new role to help the driver in ensuring an environmentally friendly form of driving with lesser CO2 emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency.
