Huawei recently unveiled its new phablet – the Honor Note 8 which rocks a massive 6.6-inch QHD display. Let’s see how it stacks up against the Xiaomi Mi Max, which also flaunts a lot of real-estate with its 6.44-inch screen. What are key differentiating factors between the two? Let’s find out.
Honor Note 8 vs Xiaomi Mi Max: Build and Design
Both devices flaunt metal bodies which give them a premium look and feel. In terms of dimensions, the Honor Note 8 measures 178.8 x 90.9 x 7.2mm while the Xiaomi Mi Max measures 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5mm.
And at 219 grams, the Honor Note 8 is slightly heavier than the Mi Max which weighs in at 203 grams.

The Honor Note 8 gets a 6.6-inch screen size which is slightly larger than the 6.44-inch screen size of the Mi Max.
Talking about resolution, the Honor Note 8 rocks a Super AMOLED QHD display with a pixel density of 443 ppi while the Xiaomi Mi Max gets a IPS LCD full HD display 392 ppi pixel density.

Both devices come with a dual-LED flash primary camera setup. However, the Xiaomi Mi Max gets a larger 16MP sensor compared to the 13MP main camera unit of the Honor Note 8. However, a higher megapixel doesn’t necessarily mean better picture quality.
Coming to the selfie cam, the Honor Note 8 gets an 8MP front-facing while the Xiaomi Mi Max gets a 5MP front-facing cam.

Under the hood, the Huawei Honor 8 gets powered by a 2.5Ghz Kirin 955 octa-core processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. The phablet will be available in 32/64/128GB storage options. While the Xiaomi Mi Max comes in two variants, a 3GB variant with 32GB internal storage and a 4GB version with 128GB of built-in storage. While the 3GB version is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650, the 4GB variant is fuelled by a Snapdragon 652. Though unlike the Honor Note 8, the Mi Max gets a microSD expandability up to 256 GB
The Honor Note 8 also gets USB-Type C port at the bottom, though it only conforms to USB 2.0 specs. Both devices get a fingerprint sensor and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

While the Honor Note 8 gets a somewhat chunky 4,500 mAh battery, the Xiaomi Mi Max gets an even more powerful 4,850 mAh battery.

The Honor Note 8 is a more powerful device with its 2.4 GHz octa-core processor. It’s a faster processor than the one found on the Xiaomi Mi Max. It also comes with a better Super AMOLED display which rocks a QHD display as opposed to the full HD IPS panel of the Xiaomi Mi Max. But all of this comes at a much higher price tag.
While Xiaomi has always been known for their pricing and Mi Max’s pricing is as competitive as it gets. The 3 GB version retails at Rs. 14,999, the 4 GB variant is available for Rs. 19,999. Moreover, it also supports NFC along with DLNA. The former allows you make wireless payments through your device while DLNA standard enables easy sharing of multimedia files over a Wi-Fi network.
