HTC is reportedly planning to ramp up its smartphone production in the coming year. According to reports, the company is preparing 4G smartphones that do not cost a lot of money. After introducing a couple of high-end smartphones in 2014, the company is apparently planning to unveil entry-level smartphones in 2015 in an attempt to capture the budget smartphone market. The company is reportedly planning on releasing twice as many smartphones next year as 2014.
HTC North Asia’s President, Jack Tong revealed that a single-SIM variant of HTC Desire 820 will soon be released in Taiwan. The company launched HTC Desire 620G dual-SIM smartphone in India that features an octa-core processor; however, it does not have a 4G LTE network capability.
As 4G network support is getting popular these days, HTC is planning to appeal consumers who are on a strict budget when shopping for a smartphone. HTC may equip MediaTek processors in its low-end 4G-capable smartphones as MediaTek has some budget-friendly processors such as MT6732 that have LTE modem built-in.
However, as the company didn’t reveal anything about the specifications and pricing of its entry-level smartphones, we still have to wait until CES 2015 or Mobile World Congress in Barcelona take place.
