Specs comaprison: Motorola Moto M vs Xiaomi Mi Max

Motorola released Moto M recently in India, which is a mid-range smartphone with average specifications. Moto M looks like a budget smartphone with not so fancy design and USB Type-C port for charging, file transfer and reverse charging. Let’s compare it to the mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi, the Mi Mix. We will compare the specifications of both smartphones and see which one is worth the money.

Moto M vs Mi Max: Design

Motorola Moto M derives the same design and form factor from all other Motorola smartphones with some hardware replacement. There is a Moto branding below the display, and the Motorola dimple is gone from the back panel, there is a fingerprint sensor placed instead. For the first time, Motorola added antennae stripes on the back panel and Motorola logo toward the bottom.

Xiaomi Mi Max is a massive phablet so it might be difficult for some people to hold it properly in one hand and operate. The back panel got some curves toward the edges like we saw on Xiaomi Mi 5. The camera is placed in the top left corner at the back, and fingerprint sensor is where you want it.

Moto M vs Mi Max: Display

Motorola Moto M comes with an IPS LCD; it is 5.5 inches diagonally, and the resolution is full HD. The pixel density of the screen is 401 ppi which is perfect for this much bigger screen. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box fits perfectly on the screen, Moto M will soon get future Android updates to Android 7.0 Nougat and further.

Xiaomi Mi Max holds a massive 6.44 inches display which makes it look more like a tablet than a smartphone. The display is full HD and the screen to body ratio is 74.8% with narrow bezels around. Also, the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Pixel density of this display is (342 ppi) lower than it should be because the screen is big.

Moto M vs Mi Max: Camera

The primary camera in both smartphones are about the same specifications; 16 MP with f/2.0 aperture size and phase detection auto-focus. Xiaomi Mi Max features a dual LED dual tone flash whereas Moto M comes with single LED flash.

Motorola Moto M is capable of shooting Full HD videos at 30 frames per second and no slow motion video or stabilisation support. The 16 MP camera of Xiaomi Mi Max is capable of capturing 4K videos and 720p videos at 120 frames per second. The front-facing camera in Moto M is 8 MP, and in Xiaomi Mi Max it is 5 MP.

Moto M vs Mi Max: Performance

Motorola Moto M comes in two variant according to the processor; MediaTek Helio P10 and Mediatel Helio P15 (India) which comprise of 1.8 GHz and 2.2 GHz single octa-core Cortex chip respectively. Both variants come with Mali-T860MP2 graphics processor and 3GB/4GB RAM.

Xiaomi Mi Max sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor including one quad core 1.4 GHz Cortex chip and one dual core Cortex A-72 chip. The GPU paired with this processor is Adreno 510 which is the latest one a powerful than Mali-T860 MP2 GPU.

Moto M vs Mi Max: Features

As Xiaomi Mi Max comes with 6.44 inches, display, so it sports a 4850 mAh battery to keep the display on for a whole day. It comes with a fingerprint sensor so you can keep your phone protected and all other sensors like accelerometer, gyro and compass.

Motorola Moto M comes with a 3050 mAh battery which is perfect for an intense day and charges quickly with fast charging feature. You’ll get fingerprint sensor in Moto M too with all other essential sensors you need in a smartphone.

Conclusion

Both the smartphones are available online and with the nearly same price range. All the specs are compared, so there’s no need to mention which smartphone is better (Mi Max) but the only drawback in Mi Max is the display which some won’t find practically usable. Well, tell us what you think about these smartphones. Would you go with Motorola M or Mi Max?
