Commenting on the development, Rajesh Rao, chairman of Nasscom Gaming Forum disclosed that mobile games are witnessing a growth in India due to growing adoption of games, affordable data and universal implementation of direct carrier billing. India presents an ideal opportunity for international mobile game developers, publishers, and investors.
As per the findings outlined in the Mobile Gaming report, Indian consumers are way ahead of making effective use of mobile games. The entire game downloads industry doubled in the last two years. Moreover, the total amount of time Indian users spent in mobile games has grown rapidly over the last one year.
Based on the estimates of the report, the mobile game downloads are expected to grow at a CAGR of 58 percent over the next five years. This is a sharp increase from 1.6 billion downloads in 2016 to an estimated 5.3 billion in 2020.
It is being found that gamers based in India have adopted popular gaming titles such as Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans and Subway Surfers. Meanwhile, the local Indian game developers are currently enjoying increased success in simulation, sports, and social card games. This is evident from the fact that games such as Teen Patti social card games are increasingly becoming popular among youths.
Recently, Google Play conducted a training session to provide adequate guidance to Indie games developers at the Gaming conference. This is because many young developers based in India are leveraging mobile games development. There are few developers who make money by developing rich and compelling mobile games.
