Volvo Cars yesterday opened its first Dealership in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This newly inaugurated showroom is also the biggest dealership offering the Swedish luxury cars. Spread over an approx. area of 26,000 square feet, the three storied building is located opposite Chaitanya college.
Volvo Cars Group’s Vice-President, Jari Kohonen and Volvo Auto India’s Managing Director, Mr. Tom Von Bonsdorff were present during the inauguration of the showroom.
Mr Kohonen said, “India is an important growth market for Volvo cars globally. With an expanding dealer network, and an exciting range of car launches planned ahead in the year, we have a very promising year to look forward to”.
Bonsdorff also informed that the Indian market entails a lot of potential buyers for Volvo cars. He also revealed that Volvo cars share of the luxury car market in Andhra Pradesh is among the highest in India. “Opening a new dealership at Vijayawada is an obvious step towards amplifying our position in the state”.
The company officials are claiming that Volvo cars have registered a growth of 20 percent in sales across the country which is increasing at a steady rate. Volvo cars have a reputation of being the safest amongst the premium segment as well. The high-level safety machines are gaining a lot of popularity in the south Indian states.
Volvo officials have also stated that “Cars from Volvo in other Telugu speaking regions apart from Hyderabad constitute to about 40 percent”. The showroom will offer all the variants of Volvo cars that have been officially launched in India.
The basic variant of the Swedish car maker starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 25.5 lakh. To list the models, the showroom will offer Volvo V40, V40 cross country, S60 and S60 Cross Country. In addition, the XC60 and XC90 models will also be sold through this dealership, which is apparently the second showroom in the same state.
