Yamaha to recall 902 YZF-R3 units in India to fix faulty clutch

Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha is planning to recall around 902 units of its YZF-R3 sports bike in order to replace its faulty clutch system. Yamaha Motor has established that YZF-R3 motorcycles falling within specific production numbers, have a defect which related to clutch pressure plate and oil pump malfunction.

Even though no safety issues have been reported within India, still, Yamaha Motor co. which is the apparently the parent company has decided to recall all the vehicle falling within the affected production numbers.

The company claimed that under their factory modification campaign, they are going to recall around 902 units of the sports bike wherein the affected parts of the bikes will be replaced with modified ones in order to ensure superior performance and delivery. The replacement will be free of cost at all the authorised Yamaha dealers.

As of now, the company has not shared the details regarding the manufacturing period of the affected batch of motorcycles. Interestingly, the recall is not a result of complaints forwarded by the customers or the riders, instead, this is simply a preventive measure taken by the sports bike manufacturer. The company added that this replacement will better ensure the safety of their customers.

This is not exactly the first time, wherein, Yamaha has recalled its bikes. Earlier, in the year of 2014, the company had decided to call back 138 units of its flagship Yamaha R1 in India, in order to replace its faulty headlight.

In addition to this, Yamaha had also decided to recall a huge number of 56082 units of its scooter, Cygnus Ray, in the lieu of rectifying the defect in the handle bars of the scooter.

Yamaha R3 is powered by a fuel injected 321 cc twin-cylinder engine which delivers around 42 PS and 29.6 Nm of torque. The top speed of the bike Is 194 kmph and is mated to a 6 speed gear box.
