Microsoft Windows 10 has just hit 14 million users mark in just one day after its official launch. And more and more people are touting to get their hands-on this new operating system from Microsoft.

Many of them are still waiting to get the Windows 10 update available notification but no more, just follow the steps given below and you can upgrade your existing Windows to Windows 10.

Here are a few steps that can help you to update the existing Windows with Windows 10 in a hassle-free way.

If Your Computer Is Not Updated

If you are using Windows 7, then you must be able to see a Windows icon on the taskbar. If you cannot see it, then your Windows is probably not updated. In such situation, first you need to update Windows 7 to Service Pack 1.

As soon as you do this, you will notice a Windows icon on the taskbar, which you can use to upgrade to Windows 10. If you are using Windows 8, then first you need to upgrade to Windows 8.1, and then you will see an update icon inside the store.

If Your Computer Is Updated

In such a case, you can simply click on the icon on the taskbar and upgrade to Windows 10 at no extra cost. However, it becomes chargeable after July 29, 2016.

If You’re Using Windows XP/Vista or Other Older Versions
In such a case, you can’t upgrade to Windows 10 for free. You will have to pay $119 for Windows 10 home and $199 for Windows 10 Pro. Price shouldn’t be the only concern for you at this moment.

You need to download the Windows 10 Media Creation tool to upgrade to Windows 10. The tool is available to download at official Windows website. Download the 32/64 bit version of the tool according to the version of your current Windows.

The minimum hardware and software requirements for Windows 10 are:

  • Processor – 1 GHz
  • RAM – 2GB for 64-bit and 1 GB for 32-bit
  • Storage – 20GB for 64-bit and 16GB for 32-bit
  • Graphics – DirectX 9 or more advanced version with WDDM 1.0 driver
  • Display – 800 x 600 pixel resolution

Even if your PC meets these requirements, you can think of buying another laptop than spending $199 for Windows 10 Pro. Think wisely before you take a plunge.
