Realme X to launch in May: Here’s what we know so far!

Realme X

Realme had a significant leap in market shares over the past year. The company has been launching aggressively priced value for money smartphones in the mid-range bracket. Now that it is done with the Realme 3 Pro, the brand is now gearing up for the Realme X launch in May.

Notably, Realme X would be the company’s flagship smartphone and will bring a significant design overhaul compared to the company’s current line-up. Moreover, it has just received BIS certification, suggesting a nearing India launch date. As of now, the handset is supposed to unveil in China on May 15 alongside the Realme X Lite (aka Realme 3 Pro).

Realme X Specs (Expected)

Realme X

Notably, the Realme X will be the company’s first smartphone to feature a pop-up selfie camera. A lately leaked promo video has confirmed the same. The camera will pop automatically from the centre of the top frame when using the selfie camera mode. It is also tipped to work for face unlock feature.

Moreover, putting a pop-up camera allows the company to offer an immersive, notch-free display with a high screen to body ratio. If previous rumours are to be believed, the upcoming Realme device would get a 6.5-inch display with Full-HD+ resolution. An AMOLED panel will be used here to be able to house an in-display fingerprint scanner.

As for the other specs, the Realme X is speculated to come with the recently launched Snapdragon 730 SoC. For those unaware, even Xiaomi is planning to bring a premium smartphone with Snapdragon 730 in India. Hence, it’d be interesting to see how will these phones fare against each other.

Similar to the 3 Pro, the Realme X too is said to feature VOOC 3.0 fast charging. The battery capacity revealed by the previous TENAA listing is 3,680mAh, making it enough for a day worth of usage.

Additionally, the device is also said to have a 48-megapixel primary sensor at the back coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. We expect it to be the same Sony IMX586 shooter found on the Honor V20 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. As of now, we’re unsure about the resolution of selfie shooter.

Realme X Price (Expected)

The Realme X price has been tipped to start at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,400) for the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the on the other hand, would come at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,500) accompanied by 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,500). Provided that the 3 Pro is already ruling the sub-15K segment, we expect theĀ  X to start somewhere around Rs. 17,000- Rs. 20,000 in India.
