Piaggio Aprilia SR 150 price in India, bookings, colors, and other details

Well known Italian automaker, Piaggio Aprilia has entered the scooter segment with its premium range scooter SR 150 and it is available at an introductory price of Rs. 65,000. The Aprilia SR 150 is the very first model of the Aprilia lineup to be made in India and had made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The launch of the scooter was much expected by fans. The scooter is being made at the Piaggio’s India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The latest model is being sold through Vespa dealerships across the nation.

Aprilia SR 150 Design

The scooter borrows its design from its illustrious predecessors, the bigger Aprilia bikes and looks distinctly western with its sleek design, twin headlights and race inspired graphics. The scooter also features an exposed petrol tank because of the rising the rear panel.

The scooter is powered by a 154cc engine and has an automatic transmission and produces 11.4 BHP at the rate of 6750rpm and a peak torque of 11.4Nm at the rate of 5500rpm. The vehicle boasts a 220 mm front disc brakes and a 240 mm rear drum brakes attached to 14-inch tubeless tires.  The vehicle has front telescopic forks and spring aided rear shock absorbers.

Other attraction includes a USB charging spot and integrated foldable pillion footrests. It also features the pass-by-switch which helps in smooth overtaking. The central console features a speedometer, a fuel gauge with telltale lights. The twin headlights are featured on the front, and the side indicators have been integrated into the front cowl. The vehicle has a 7-litre capacity fuel tank. The scooter is available in two colors — black and white.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin from next week onwards. The vehicle is touted to feature the benefits of both the types of two wheelers-motor cycle and scooter, the performance of the former and the practicality of the latter.

Aprilia SR 150 Price and Availability

The vehicle can also be booked via Paytm by submitting an amount of Rs. 2,000 which is 100% cash back on the booking amount. The SR150 is being produced locally under the “Make in India’ initiative of the Modi government. 90% of the components have been sourced locally, and this has helped the company to bring down the costs considerably.

Borrowing its design cues from the bigger Aprilia scooters, the SR 150 looks distinctly European in its appeal with the slender frame, dual headlight cluster and the sport race inspired graphics. The model also boasts of an exposed engine thanks to, while completing the look are the massive (by scooter standards) 14-inch wheels. Power comes from the 149cc single-cylinder engine that is tuned to produce 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to an automatic transmission.

The Aprilia SR 150 is an enthusiast-oriented scooter, something our market has a dearth of and has been tuned to offer impressive handling, courtesy of a stiffer suspension setup. Braking performance, on the other hand, comes from a front disc and a rear drum brake setup.

The Aprilia SR 150 is being locally produced in India with 90 percent local content going in, which has helped the company price the model competitively. The scooter is being produced at the parent company Piaggio’s Baramati facility and will be sold through the company’s Vespa and Motoplex showrooms. Italian motorcycle maker Aprilia has launched its first ever scooter for the Indian market called the SR 150. The company had earlier announced the scooter back in July and today its plan to officially launch it in stores.
