OnePlus 2

OnePlus has officially confirmed that the company will roll out an update with VoLTE support for the OnePlus 2 before the end of Q4 2016. However, OnePlus One and OnePlus X will miss out on the race. Ever since the launch of the Reliance Jio network in India, the official OnePlus forum has been flooded with queries from customers with requests for VoLTE support.

Commenting on the launch, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India disclosed on the official forum that they have been keeping a close eye on forum discussions. They noticed a large number of requests to enable VoLTE (Voice over LTE) or HD calling support on OnePlus smartphones.

VoLTE support for OnePlus 2 to roll out soon

Meanwhile, an OTA update to enable VoLTE support is scheduled to roll out to all OnePlus 2 users in the next quarter. This means that if you have OnePlus 2, you will get VoLTE support by the end of December. You will be able to take full advantage of all the features of Reliance Jio 4G network.

Exact launch date for OnePlus 2 VoLTE support not revealed

Even though OnePlus India has announced the release of an update with VoLTE support, there is no confirmation about the exact launch date. However, we expect an update before the end of November so that customers can experience Reliance Jio 4G before the expiry of the initial offer period.

Agarwal said that for the last several months, the company has been working in close collaboration with all telecom partners in India. This is to integrate a wide range of upcoming technologies and services, which includes VoLTE out of the box on our latest flagship device, the OnePlus 3.

In the meantime, all existing OnePlus One and OnePlus X users who work with Jio services will be able to make use of Jio4GVoice app (formerly known as JioJoin app) to experience improved call quality on the network.
