LG launches new flat-screen OLED 4K TVs line-up in India

LG Electronics has added two new flavors to its OLED 4K TV lineup, but both the latest additions feature flat display panels. In the latest development, LG has also continued with its commitment to make high-quality television viewing experience affordable. The flat-screen OLED sets from LG will be available for purchase starting next month, and pricing details have also been revealed.

After initially launching curved display OLED 4K sets, LG is expanding the lineup with flat-screen displays. The move should also help address the frustration that some customers may have had with the curved display sets.

LG enjoys a special standing in the television set business. The company is the only one currently offering OLED sets, and it continues to raise the bar in top-quality TV experience.

Howard Lee, Director – Home Entertainment, LG India said, “OLED is the way to the future. Global demand is increasing exponentially, and it will soon become mainstream.”

Earlier, LG had showed off the flat-screen variant of its OLED 4K sets at the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2015, but the wait to see them on the shelves has been long. Thankfully, LG has ended that wait.

Performance

In terms of performance, LG says that the flat display OLED sets are capable of streaming and displaying high dynamic range (HDR) video. That means that you can stream videos from the Internet or display from a connected device for more enhanced pictures.

Moreover, LG has said that its 55-inch 55EF9500 and 65-inch 65EF9500 flat 4K panels come with built-in support for streaming content from such sources as Netflix, Inc. You can also stream videos to your flat OLED sets from Google’s YouTube and Amazon Instant Video.

Pricing of LG’s New OLED 4K TVs

Starting this September, it will be available to get your hands on a 55-inch or 65-inch flat-screen OLED 4K sets from LG. Purchasing these new OLED 4K TV flavors will set you back $5,500 (Rs. 3,63,822 approx.) and $7,000 (Rs. 4,63,046 approx.) for the 55-inch and the 65-inch TVs.

Looking at the pricing of the flat-screen 4K sets, LG has kept them in-line with the curved-display variants. However, it is widely believed that making a flat display is less expensive compared to curved screens.
