The Indian Railway is going in a big way to make its transactions digital. Already 57% of its work is being done online. To streamline and make the task of booking more easy and smooth, Indian Railway have introduced a new Application which will simplify the process of online reservation and there will be no need to add username, and password every time in each login.
Unveiling the new application, the Railway Ministry revealed the new ticketing Application IRCTC Rail Connect. The new application will make the process of booking tickets online hassle free. The new application will replace the old existing IRCTC Connect app. It is based on the latest technology and is touted to make the booking of tickets under tatkal, ladies quota, elderly citizen, current reservation and premium tickets much easier.
At present e-ticketing accounts for more than 58% of all reserved tickets booked. E-ticketing caters to more than 10 lakh passengers daily. The latest Android based mobile application has been introduced to encourage more and more tourists to go for online booking of tickets. The most recent application also has enhanced security features like the advanced security of self-assigned PIN (Personal identification number). It does away with the need to put username and passwords.
Some of the features which are unique to the new application include It is round the clock service, and there is no time-based checks and affords easy synchronization of the application with Next Generation e-Ticketing. Currently, the online booking is handled by IRCTC and to make booking simpler; the Indian Railway has coordinated the new Application, IRCTC Rail Connect, with its website. Consumers will be able to search and book train tickets quickly. Passengers can also pay using e-wallets like Paytm or Mobikwik. The application will also simplify the procedure to check available reservations and cancellations. Passengers will also be updated with journey alerts in the new application.
