Launched back in June in China for CNY 2,299, Gionee is all set to introduce its hot-selling smartphone, Marathon M5 in India on November 24. The launch is scheduled to happen at an event being held in Bengaluru, India on coming Tuesday. The invites for the same have already been sent by the company.
As per an industry source, the Gionee Marathon M5 will be priced between Rs. 20,000 and 23,000 and the company has also entered into a partnership with an e-commerce major for selling the phone online.
Known for its excellent battery backup, M5 is the latest entrant in the Marathon series of the company. The smartphone price will be on the higher side as compared to the Gionee M4.
As per reports, a survey that the company conducted about Android users found that they wanted more battery life, and that is just what the M5 offers with its dual battery.
A 6,020 mAh battery powers the Gionee Marathon M5 that the company alleges can be used for four days. As per the company, the user has around 62-hour power backup when the battery shows just 5%. The battery claim is true, and another feature called the Smart Power Consumption Management that controls the battery usage.
Highlights of the Gionee Marathon M5
Equipped with a 5.5-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels, the Marathon M5 is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor and an option of 1GB, 2GB and 3GB RAM.
The handset offers 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, with Amigo 3.0 UI. On the camera specs, the device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and Autofocus and on the front camera, there is 5MP camera.

Available in white, grey and gold, the smartphone also comes with a reverse charge facility that lets the user charge other devices using his M5 phone. With the device being launched on Tuesday, more specifications and price details will be unveiled by the company on Wednesday.
