India being the fastest growing phone smartphone has also seen growth in the feature phone segment. Brands like Nokia, Itel, Detel have been churning some quality feature phones at very competitive prices.
The home grown brand Detel has just announced their newest feature phone the ‘Detel D1 Slim’ for INR 1,199. We tried the phone for a while and here’s what we found.
Design
The phone comes with a big 2.8-inch display on with the keypad on the bottom. The phone comes with a selfie camera, which is placed near the earpiece. The whole construction is done out of quality plastic. The keypad gets backlit keys for better visibility. There’s a massive speaker present on the back with a cut out, underneath lies the Detel branding. Next to the speaker is the rear camera.
The phone comes in three color varinats – Blue, Gold and Rose gold. The phone comes with support for dual SIM cards which can be added to the phone by popping the back panel. Next to the SIM slots is the microSD card slot that can take up to 16GB memory card. Detel has packed the phone with a 1,500 mAh removable battery.
The bottom of the phone houses the 3.5mm headphone jack, mic and the microUSB charging slot.
Features
The phone comes with a host of features for the level of a feature phone. The company has added support for 23 local languages, so the product can easily be targeted to the masses. The user interface is very easy to use with the elements neatly laid out.
The phone comes with SOS feature built-in which can be triggered in case of an emergency. Apart from this, there is an option to auto-record phone calls, blacklist numbers which we feel are nifty features.
The massive speaker on the back gets pretty loud and sound okay for a smartphone that’s just under INR 1,500. Detel has gone ahead and added selfie and rear camera to the phone. We wouldn’t really comment on the quality but appreciate the fact that the brand chose to add them.
The audio via the headphone jack is perfect considering the price and the phone also comes with the support for wireless FM which would be appreciated by masses.
Detel has packed the D1 Slim with a 1,500 mAh battery which can easily last you 2-3 days. The company has also added a power saving mode which can be enabled by just long pressing the ‘0’ key on the keypad.
