Apple has officially started to sell refurbished iPhones through the official online store. According to sources, the Cupertino-based giant has started to sell refurbished iPhones with a discount of up to 15 percent compared to the original price.
Apple is selling 16GB iPhone 6S for $449, which is equivalent to Rs. 30,000. The 16GB model of iPhone 6S Plus is priced at $529 (Rs. 35,000), and the 64GB variant of the phone is available at $589, which equates to Rs. 40,000. The refurbished iPhones are available in all color variants such as Rose Gold, Space Grey, Silver, and Gold.
Interestingly, Apple has started to sell refurbished iPhones with a one-year warranty. Moreover, the refurbished iPhones ships with integrated battery and a new outer shell in an unlocked and SIM-free mode. Hence, the iPhone will be compatible with all leading US mobile service providers.
Previously, refurbished Apple iPhones were made available only through online retail stores like eBay. However, iPhones sold via eBay doesn’t come with a warranty. They are sold with seller warranty, which means you have to carry your handset to the seller who sold the iPhone.
Till recently, customers could only purchase refurbished Macs, iPads, MacBooks and Mac accessories on Apple store. In India, Apple’s attempt to sell refurbished iPhones was thwarted by the Government by declining the application filed by the company. Apple also sought few exemptions for setting up exclusive retail stores.
