2 Min Read

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched an official application for Aadhaar cardholders in India known as mAdhaar. The app is currently available for Android platform, and it comes with features like biometric locking/unlocking to secure the personal data. The app will have the following information like your Name, Date of birth, Gender and Address along with the user’s photograph which is linked with Aadhaar number.

After downloading the application, users have to set up a password followed by entering your 12-digit Aadhaar number. The app will then send an SMS from your registered mobile number for verification. Once a user enables the locking system, the app remains locked till user chooses to either unlock it or disable the locking system. The application allows users to download Aadhaar profile through their smartphones and will therefore not require hard copies of the card, wherever applicable.

Furthermore, the application does not follow the SMS based OTP procedure for the official registration process. Instead of that apps is featured with TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) generation process. Another important aspect of this application is Share QR code, and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information from it instead of manual entry. Download the mAdhaar app from here.
