Xiaomi MIUI 9 expected to roll out on 16th August

Xiaomi seems to be all set to roll out the MIUI 9, the next iteration of MIUI 8 OS.  This new update to the Xiaomi’s UI is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and will only be available to selected handsets. It is expected that the new UI will roll out from 16 August. Though the company still hasn’t mentioned the date officially. Huang, the Xiaomi VP (Marketing) shared a couple of MIUI 9 screenshot on Weibo.

 

According to the speculations, Xiaomi MIUI 9 comes the features like Split Screen Mode which we have seen on the MIUI 8. The UI also includes picture-in-picture functionality, screen recorder and even allow users to delete the preloaded apps. It is also rumored that the MIUI 9 may not opt some basic functionality like SMS schedule to utilize the processing power of the phone to perform some other functions.

Xiaomi officially released the list of devices that will receive the MIUI 9 update, the following is the list of smartphones that will get the update.

Mi Max Mi 4S
Mi 5 Mi Note
Mi 5S Mi Note 2
Mi 5S plus Mi Mix
Mi 4C Mi Note 4X

The Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5C and Redmi 4X will get the Android 7.1 Nougat update. While the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 haven’t made it to the list. But might be added to the list in later stages, So stay tuned for further update.
