IRCTC will be offering 50% cash back on pre-paid meals of the minimum value of Rs 300 from Friday, May 20, 2016.
IRCTC incentive is being seen as a renewed effort to boost the popularity of the e-catering facility,
Food on trains is getting easier and cheaper too.
Passengers who book food online via IRCTC website will be getting a 50% cashback on meals ordered above Rs 300 in a single order.
There are some riders though to avail the particular benefits though they do seem reasonable. Passengers can avail the cashback on food booked in a pre-paid mode.
The orders must be made through IRCTC’s e-catering website ‘www.Ecatering.irctc.co.in’ or on “Food on Track” mobile application.
For effecting a smooth supply of food, the IRCTC has partnered with more than 40 vendors to deliver food online in running trains. Once booked, the food will be provided at the berth of the passenger when the train stops at the nearest station.
Some of the necessary requisites for availing the 50% cash back include –
• Payment must be made in advance via HDFC PG or Paytm to avail the Cash Back Offer
• Offer is valid only if orders are above Rs 300 and the cash back will be processed only after delivery and will be paid back on the same account through which the payment has been made.
• The customer will be intimated after IRCTC has effected the cash back
• More information is available at customercare.ecatering@irctc.com or calls at toll-free number 1323.
IRCTC has carved a niche for itself but much more needs to be done. There are challenges of consistency and speed of transactions.
One of the biggest hindrances is the smug attitude of its employees, a feature characteristic of most public sector companies. Work culture will have to be changed with a more aggressive approach.
