Xiaomi Mi Note 2 price leak suggests it’ll command a premium price tag

xiaomi mi note 2 price

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is all set for a launch today in China and phone’s price gets tipped again ahead of today’s launch. In a new round of leaks, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2’s price has been tipped at $590 (Rs. 39,500 approx.). Now, this comes across as rather bizarre as we’ve never seen Xiaomi devices commanding such a premium price tag. Moreover, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also suggested earlier the company’s plan to keep the Mi Note 2’s pricing under $300 to attract customers. Hence, the company launching the device at such an outrageous price point seems rather far-fetched.

While earlier this week, the phone’s 4GB variant price was tipped at CNY 2799 (Rs. 27,800 approx) and CNY 2999 (Rs. 29,800) for the 6GB variant. The company is yet to officially confirm the Mi Note 2 pricing, which should likely happen at today’s launch event.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Specs

In terms of specs, the Mi Note 2 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display with Force Touch pressure sensitivity. Under the hood, it is said to feature a Snapdragon 821 processor bundled with either 4GB/6GB RAM. The smartphone is also expected to rock a dual-camera setup on the back, with 23MP and 12MP Sony sensors. On the front, it expected to get an 8MP selfie shooter. Juicing up the device would be a 4100 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The smartphone is also expected to pack an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

Also, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top. While connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB Type-C connectivity. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also tipped to get an iris scanner.

Readers are advised to take these rumours with a pinch of salt. We’ll bring you all the updates from the launch event today that kick-off 11:30AM IST.
