Xiaomi Mi 5 Black variant images leaked before release date

The images of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 have been leaked on Weibo before they were taken down for reasons not known to us. The leaked images revealed the design of the black color variant that includes a physical button on the bottom.

It looks from the first image that the thickness of Mi 5 will be comparatively low when compared to previous counterparts.

The second picture featured content in the Chinese language with a person in brown color jacket holding the device. The leak comes in the wake of a similar incident recently which showcased a video of Mi 5.

Mi 5 is expected to feature Snapdragon 820 SoC, 5.2-inch QHD display and 4GB RAM including a 3500mAh battery. The device will also include 16MP primary camera in addition to a 13MP front-facing camera for selfie addicts.

The new handset will have the capability to charge quickly due to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology. The device will also likely include dual front-facing speakers and a special pink color variant.

According to unconfirmed sources, Mi 5 will also ship with pressure sensitive touchscreen, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.

According to official sources, the device will not include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as we reported in December. Xiaomi has revealed that Mi 5 is in the mass production stage.

The camera will have the capability to capture images up to 5312 x 2988 pixels. Mi 5 will include Synaptics ClearForce touch technology as we reported previously.

Xioami is expected to unveil Mi 5 on January 21, 2016. The device is expected to be available for consumers starting from February 8 onwards via Amazon. We don’t have specific information regarding the pricing. We expect the device to be priced at Rs. 13,999 in India.
