Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat has been spotted on GFXBench. According to a listing on the popular benchmarking site, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 with a 9.7-inch display will receive Android 7.0 Nougat update. If the rumor turns out to be true, the Galaxy Tab S2 will be the first tablet to get the new Android platform well ahead of flagship handsets.
Based on the listing, Android 7.0 Nougat is currently tested on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T810). This is excellent news for all tech enthusiasts who would like to work with Android Nougat on their tablet. Recently, we reported about the non-availability of tablets powered by the latest Nougat platform.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Specifications
On the specifications front, the Android Nougat running versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T810, SM-T815 and SM-T817) are powered by the Exynos 5433 processor, ARM Mali-T760 graphics, 7MP rear camera coupled with 2 MP front-facing shooter. The processor runs at a clock speed of 1.9GHz during the testing process.
Even though Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is available in multiple variants, it’s the 9.7-inch model which has been spotted with Android 7.0 Nougat. As of writing this, we don’t have any information about the availability of Android Nougat on the 8-inch model. Hence, you will have to wait for few more months till something concrete emerges as regards the 8-inch display. We expect that the company will release Nougat update for the 8-inch but can’t say the estimated time.
That being said, it is confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will receive Android Nougat soon. The only point of contention is how long it will take for the company to roll out the update. Meanwhile, if you have access to the Snapdragon model of the tablet, you will have to wait for few more months till Samsung rolls out the update.
Surprisingly, the company has not yet rolled out the final stable build of Android Nougat to its flagship smartphones. However, other manufacturers such as Sony have already started to release Nougat updates.
Launched in 2015, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 was made available with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. However, the manufacturer has introduced the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in 2016. If Samsung rolls out Android 7.0 Nougat update, then it will be the first major release in the history of diminishing tablets sector.
