It’s been a while since we’ve heard about the Samsung Galaxy On7 2016 smartphone. Back in June, the smartphone first appeared in an FCC listing suggesting that at least one variant of the smartphone will get a Snapdragon 625 processor. Now a new GeekBench listing of the device has been spotted with model number SM-G610F, likely to be the 2016 Galaxy On7 for India.
According to the listing, the smartphone is said to feature an Exynos 7870 octa-core processor bundled with 3GB of RAM. The variant featuring the Snapdragon 625 processor earlier spotted on GeekBench in June might only be launched in China.
Samsung Galaxy On7 2016 Specs
Other specs of the smartphone are expected to be the same as revealed earlier. A previous GFXbench listing for the SM-G6100 showed the On7 would get a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Other key specs include a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera along with 16GB of on-board storage.
The device will come equipped with 3GB of RAM and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. While there’s no information regarding the device’s other specs, for now, a recent listing on Indian import-export tracking website, Zauba, does suggest that the smartphone may come with a fingerprint scanner, which would make it the first Samsung smartphone in the given price range to come equipped with this feature.
Going by the specifications, it appears the Korean manufacturer is planning to give this year’s Galaxy On7 a major upgrade. The last year’s model came with a lower resolution 720p HD display powered by a 1.3GHz Exynos 3475 processor and had 1.5GB of RAM along with 8GB of built-in storage. Hence, this year’s Galaxy On7 variant appears to be a significant upgrade compared to last year’s model.
There’s no word yet as to the device’s exact launch date and pricing in India, though we expect the Galaxy On7 2016 to be priced somewhere between Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 14,000. However, Samsung hasn’t made any official announcement about the device.
Though going by the new Geekbench listing, the new device is most probably the Galaxy On7 2016 variant as its model number is SM-G6100. The year model had the model number SM-G6000. As far as release date and availability is concerned, reports indicate the device could launch in September or sometime around mid-august.
