Piaggio Aprillia SR 150 launched in India; Check price and features

The much awaited Aprilia SR 150 priced at Rs 65,000 was launched in the Indian market. Piaggio Vehicles has already started the production of the 150cc scooter which is manufactured at the company’s Baramati plant in India. The Italian company will initiate the delivery of the new bike from September onwards. The announcement of the two-wheeler launch was made at the Delhi Motor Show in February by Piaggio. It is currently one of the hottest topics among the auto enthusiasts because of it edgy style and performance.

Seeing the hype that the scooter has created in the market the Italian manufacturer has already started taking the booking.

What makes Aprilia SR 150 unique?

The best thing about the SR 150 is that it has received 90 percent localisation which has helped the company to keep the cost under control. The ‘Made in India’ scooter will be exported to other countries like Europe and Asia by next year.

One other important feature to be focused are the tyres; the upcoming model uses 120/70-14 tyres which are manufactured by a Thailand company called Vee Rubber. What is interesting about the product is that it offers superior grips just like the one that comes on the KTMs. The bookings can be done here.

Specification

The SR 150 comes powered by a 154.4cc engine and has mated automatic transmission. The maximum strength of the engine at 7,000 rpm is 11.39 bhp and at 5,500 rpm it is 11.5 Nm. Furthermore, the two-wheeler features 220mm disc brake at the front while 240mm drum brake is installed at the rear.

One other important characteristic of the SR 150 is that the suspension system comprises of 35mm telescopic forks at the front. Whereas the rear has hydraulic spring loaded shock absorber.

Along with this, it will have features like beak-styled front apron twin headlamp; handlebar mounted turn indicators, fuel gauge, odometer and instrument cluster which comes with a dual pod.

Pricing

Aprilia SR 150 has launched in the market at a reasonable price of Rs 65,000. Although the company has announced the launch of two other models, so far no comparative information has been revealed. But rumors are doing the round that the first model will launch in India early 2017 and the second model by 2017 end.

Furthermore, the company has also brought out to the notice that no product will be priced below the 65,000 price bracket.
