Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus, has entered into a business partnership with Make in India, a famous bandwagon, to manufacture its products in India. OnePlus has selected Foxconn for the production of smartphones at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. The first assignment of made in India smartphones will be available in the market by the end of this year.
Pete Lau, the founder and CEO of OnePlus, declared saying that it is a big day for them, and production of smartphones in India is among important decisions for them. Their company is sincerely grateful to Foxconn and Andhra Pradesh government to manifest their dream.
He further added that India has a big consumer market, and it will make them committed to a long-term growth path that could be sustained. This is going to add strength to their presence and help them to enhance their business in India.
The work area of Foxconn is going to cover 30,000 sq ft of land where OnePlus is planning to manufacture its handsets. The company has the caliber to produce 5,00,000 handsets per month.
The smartphones of Xiaomi are already being produced on the premises of this factory.
During current times, OnePlus is having two brands of smartphones they are OnePlus One and OnePlus 2. The first one is available in the market with two sub-varieties that have a storage space of 16GB and 64GB.
On the other hand, OnePlus2 is available with a storage capacity of 64GB. OnePlus is going to ship its 16GB subgroup by the end of the year 2015. There is also a gossip that the Chinese company is also going to launch the third smartphone brand by the name of OnePlus X.
