As announced back in February, OnePlus is gearing up for its fourth smartphone (OnePlus 3) launch. Known for challenging the larger competitors in the market with great hardware and higher specs at a much lower price, this phone is said to battle iPhone SE, Motorola G4 phones, Nexus 6P, and may be even the likes of LG G5.
Known for their unique marketing techniques mostly involving exclusivity, the company has now come up with another one. The first buyers will get free VR headsets.
In anticipation of the launch results, the company has already shipped VR headsets to the fans for free. These fans will get the first opportunity to buy the phone (if they watch the keynote in VR). Another exclusivity gimmick!
Infamous for hosting sales, the company hasn’t announced when the rest of the fans will get to buy it. Surely this kind of thing worked wonders for the previous phones, and it is likely to work for this one, considering they’re already out of stock of the VR headsets.

Evan Blass, known for reliable information in such regards, has tweeted saying that the phone has a “silvery metal build” like that of HTC10.
The phone is said to have an AMOLED display (to save battery), 3,000 mAh battery and 32GB internal storage with 4GB RAM or 64 GB internal storage with 6GB RAM.
Other rumored specs are:
- 5-inch, 1080p display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow software
- NFC (for mobile payments)
- 8-megapixel front-facing camera
- 16-megapixel rear camera
The price in India is said to be close to what it was for OnePlus 2 (about Rs. 25,000).

This is the era of mass social marketing, and the Chinese company seems to have mastered it. The results usually show in “out of stock” notices and banners.
