Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA update finally rolling out to OnePlus 2

OnePlus yesterday made an announcement on its official website that it has started rolling out Android Marshmallow update for its flagship device, OnePlus 2. Rolling out as OxygenOS 3.0.2, the update will bring Android version 6.0.1 on the OnePlus 2 smartphones.

The incremental update will bring few new features and enhancements. The Chinese smartphone firm has said that the OTA update will arrive on all OnePlus 2 devices in the next 48 hours or so. The company wrote on its official Forum page, “We are about to start the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 3.0.2 on OnePlus 2, the upgrade to Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 for the OnePlus 2.”

For some reason, the update will clear your stored fingerprints, as stated by the firm. So, users need to enroll again once the update is installed on their smartphones.

Following are the updates the new software will bring:

  • Upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
  • Doze mode Enhancement for better battery life
  • System-wide performance improvements
  • Improved performance and recognition capability of fingerprint sensor
  • OnePlus Camera UI and AF optimization
  • MaxxAudio and Tuner removed; integration with Dirac HD Sound technology for a better audio experience
  • Shelf UX improved; long press now enables editing on board
  • Addition of app lock feature in Recents, and they won’t clear away
  • Network operator selection now sticks to your choice
  • Swiftkey 6.3.3 update

Users can wait for the OTA update to appear on their handsets or can check the update is ready for their handset at Settings > About Phone > System Updates.

Meanwhile, the availability of Android Marshmallow is on limited devices; it is yet to arrive on all the smartphones. The devices that have already received the update include Nexus devices, Sony Xperia Z2, Z3, Z3 Compact, and other premium handsets, and the OnePlus 2 is the recent addition to that list. We hope that the upcoming OnePlus 3 device will come along with the latest version of Android OS.
