Rumored Nokia P1 flagship shown-off in a new concept video

The alleged Nokia P1 flagship is one of the five Nokia smartphones set to launch this year. HMG Global, the Finnish manufacturer who has the rights to sell Nokia-branded smartphones, has already launched the first Nokia-branded smartphone in China. The company is also expected to launch new Nokia handsets at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, at a press event scheduled on February 27.

Now a YouTube user has created a concept video of the alleged Nokia P1, rumored to be a flagship phone with high-end innards. The video gives us a hint of what it may look like, showing a metal and glass body with almost no bezels on the sides. Besides, the video also shows a hybrid SIM slot on the left and oval-shaped Home Button on the front, which could also double up as a fingerprint sensor.

Moving on to the back, the video shows-off the main camera unit with Carl Zeiss optics and triple flash. The Nokia logo gets emblazoned slight below the primary camera. Besides, the video also reveals the USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack,along with a dual-speaker setup at the bottom.

Nokia P1: Specs and Features

Report suggest that the upcoming Nokia flagship from HMD Global – rumored to be called the  Nokia P1 will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. According to NokiaPowerUser, the upcoming Nokia-branded Android flagship from HMD Global will launch in some time, though an exact timeline is yet to be confirmed.

The report cites the company’s officials, adding that they could be referring to the rumored Nokia P1 smartphone which is expected to be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Nokia P1 reportedly under development

Past reports indicate that HMD Global’s Nokia-branded flagship will be launched in the market as the Nokia P1, and will run the latest Snapdragon 835 processor. Besides, the upcoming handset’s design is also said to get inspired by the Sharp Aquos Xx3.

In terms of specs, the alleged Nokia P1 is expected to feature a 5.3-inch IGZO display with a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz, layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.

Besides, the Snapdragon 835 processor is said to come bundled with 6GB of RAM. The handset will be available in 128GB or 256GB storage options.

On the camera front, the smartphone is rumored to pack a 24MP primary camera with Carl Zeiss optics. While juicing up the device will be a 3500mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0.

Besides, the device is also expected to pack an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor along with IP55/IP57 certification. The Nokia P1 is also supposed to run Android Nougat 7.0 right out-of-the-box.

Nokia P1 Release Date and Pricing

The smartphone is expected to be announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which starts on February 27 and ends on March 2. Many smartphone manufacturers are expected to showcase their latest flagships at the annual trade show, including the likes of Huawei, LG, Lenovo, and more.

In terms of pricing, the rumor mill suggests it’ll command a rather premium price tag. The 128GB Nokia P1 is rumored to cost around $800, while the 256GB variant is said to cost around a whopping $950. That said, we’ll take this pricing news with a huge grain of salt.

To recall, HMD Global recently announced the first Nokia smartphone in China- the Nokia 6. Over a million customers have already pre-ordered the device before the first flash sale, though reports suggest HMD Global was only able to deliver 10,000 units, far below the number pre-registrations. At $245, the Nokia is certainly an exciting phone with a 5.5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, and a 3000mAh battery. The future does look bright for HMD Global entering the smartphone with Nokia-branded smartphones. Hopefully, they’ve sufficient production capacities to meet such high demands.
