A new report indicates that the much anticipated Nintendo Switch is expected to be priced under-$250. According to Japanese publication Nikkei, the upcoming Nintendo console is expected to sell around ¥25,000 in Japan — which going by today’s exchange rate nearly amounts to $215.
Japanese newspaper Nikkie has a rather reliable track with Nintendo leaks in the past. In the past, Nikkie was pretty close to revealing launch price of Wii U, and also correctly revealed key features of the Nintendo 3DS. Its also worth noting that Nikkie report makes it clear that Ninetndo Switch price mentioned above is not the exact figure, as it is more of an average figure that gamers can expect.
It’s also worth pointing out that even if Nikkie’s tentative prices turn out to be correct, there is a possibility that international prices won’t be entirely based on exchange rates. To recall the Wii U was launched in Japan for ¥26,250 and sold in the US at 299.99, which was quite above the exchange rate that time. That being said, it’s highly likely that the Nintendo Switch will sell around $250 which is still very pocket-friendly compared to the likes of the PS4 and Xbox One.
