Mark Zuckerberg mistakes you should avoid to protect your accounts from getting hacked

We all use social networking websites to connect with friends and family, but what if someone hacks into your social account? Last week Mark Zuckerberg’s Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter account got hacked by a team of hackers who call them “OurMine”.

Mark Zuckerberg made some mistakes which made his accounts vulnerable to hacking; these errors are minor, but if ignored, any pro hacker can easily hack into your social account. We all want to secure our account from hackers, but sometimes we overlook some necessary things. Read these simple tricks to make your social accounts super safe so that no one can hack them.

1. Always use a strong password:

Mark Zuckerberg’s LinkedIn password was “dadada”, which reminds me of the file names on my computer; just hit the keyboard twice and there’s the name. Well, it’s good for me that I only use this technique for renaming my files on my computer and nothing else. But what he (Mark Zuckerberg) was thinking of while making such passwords for his social accounts.

Strong passwords are recommended for the social account which no one can guess. Use uppercase and lowercase letters in your password, and add some symbols to complicate it. If you are unable to think of a complex password, use a password generator website to do it for you. Strong Password Generator and Passwords Generator are two popular websites for generating strong passwords.

2. Use Password Manager:

Remembering long and strong passwords for various websites is a task. No more as there is an application for that too. Use a password manager for your browser like LastPass extension, which is available for each and every browser out there.

This extension remembers passwords for your every account on the Internet. You now need to remember only one password and forget those hundreds of passwords on various social media websites. With these password manager extensions, you can easily get access to your passwords anywhere while at the workplace, at home or while traveling.

3. Maintain different passwords for different accounts:

Using the same password for various accounts is one serious issue that weakens the security of accounts. It’s like using one key for all the doors of your home.

If you are using the same password for different accounts like on your credit card, bank account, and some recipe website, it will be easier for a hacker to steal your password cause extensive damage. So, it is always advised to use different passwords for different accounts.

4. Use antivirus programs:

Some websites infuse malware with their free products, which can steal your PC’s data and send it to the developer. If you are using an antivirus program then, it will notify you about the malware so you can uninstall it.

Some antivirus programs come with browser security extensions, which secure your browsing by blocking pop-up ads, insecure links, and malware providing websites. Use any of the antivirus programs like AVG, Norton or Avira.

5. Stay active on social media:

An active social account is not easy to hack. Hackers often target the accounts which are not active because it’s easy to hack into them using different and time taking techniques. If you stay active on your account, you’ll get to know about any suspicious activity and change the password immediately to avoid further hacking attempts.

If you have lots of social accounts, and it’s not possible to check on to all of them, then you should use LogDog. LogDog is a smartphone app available for iOS and Android devices, which keep track of your social accounts by scanning them and letting you know of any suspicious login attempt.

Ignoring these mistakes makes your account vulnerable to hackers and may ruin your social life. Hackers always target those accounts which are not secure so keep your social account safe using these simple tricks.
