Lenovo P2 with a massive 5100mAh battery and Snapdragon 625 processor is expected to launch in Champagne Gold and Graphite Gray color variants on January 12. Lenovo took to Twitter and disclosed that you can now travel fearlessly with the longest lasting battery. The company also teased the upcoming smartphone on its official Twitter handle. However, there is no clear information about the official release date.
Meanwhile, MakTechBlog disclosed that they have credible information from Lenovo Insiders that Lenovo P2 will be launched on January 12. You will also be able to buy the handset on the same day exclusively via Amazon India.
Lenovo P2 specifications
Originally showcased at the IFA 2016 in September 2016, the Lenovo P2 will be equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, up to 4GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Lenovo P2 will be available in both 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB expandable internal storage. The 32GB variant will be infused with 3GB RAM. However, the 64GB model will be equipped with a higher 4GB RAM. Furthermore, the display panel will have a pixel density of 401 PPI, which enables you to view more content in the small area.
Lenovo P2 to ship with fingerprint sensor on home button
While the rear camera will offer a 13MP sensor with support for phase detection autofocus paired with a single tone LED flash, the front-facing snapper will ship with a 5MP sensor. Although 5MP is sufficient for capturing selfies and video calls, we expected at least 8MP sensor. Lenovo P2 also comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded into the physical home button.
The main attraction of Lenovo P2 is the integration of a 5100mAh battery, which will be capable of delivering a backup of more than 3 days on normal usage. Moreover, the addition of a fast charging battery is an added bonus since you will be able to charge the battery quickly. The handset will be loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We have to wait and watch as to whether the company provides an update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
We expect Lenovo to fix competitive pricing for the P2 handset to combat leading players such as Xiaomi and LeEco. The 3GB RAM model with 32GB storage will be priced at Rs. 15499. However, the 4GB model will be available for sale at a slightly higher range at Rs. 16999. Since there is no official confirmation, you have to accept these facts only with a pinch of salt.
Earlier, there were rumors that Lenovo might possibly announce the Lenovo P2 smartphone along with the Moto M launch in December 2016. However, it was turned out to be false since Lenovo had other ambitions. That being said, Lenovo P2 will provide an incredible battery life similar to that of Motorola Moto Z.
