Lenovo HX03W Fitness band review

Lenovo HX03W 4

The smart fitness product market has seen a growth in the last 2 years after Xiaomi and many other Chinese vendors brought their products to India. The market is filled with products ranging from less than INR 1,000 to INR 50,000 depending on the features you want.

After refreshing their smart devices lineup in India by bringing a bunch of smart devices ranging from smart fitness bands to smart scales. The newest product in the lineup is HX03W fitness band. The band comes with active heart rate monitoring and IP68 water resistance.

We have been using the Lenovo HX03W fitness band for just a week now and here’s what we found.

Key features of Lenovo HX03F

  • OLED Display
  • Active Heart rate monitor
  • IP68 Waterproof grade
  • Activity Tracker
  • Easy Interface Switching

Box Contents

The box comes with just the normal paperwork which includes a quick start guide and warranty card. There are no cables bundled since the band features a USB connector, which is covered with the bands itself.

Design and Display

Lenovo has used good quality materials in the construction of the HX03W. The band has two tone color outer shell which is made out of high quality plastic. The silicon straps are non-allergic and are ideal for prolonged use. What we didn’t like is, instead of going with a charging dock, Lenovo went with the USB attached to the body for charging. This can be off-putting for some since for each charging cycle you need to pull out the band and then plugin the band to Laptop or PC.

Lenovo HX03W 1

Lenovo went with a OLED display instead of a color display that we saw on the HX03F. Considering the size of the tracker itself the display seems to be accurately made for it. There is a capacitive button on the bottom of the display which can be used to navigate the menu. The display is not that bright, so outdoor visibility will be an issue but this can be ignored considering the price of the product.

Performance and Fitness Tracking

The HX03W can be used to track a bunch of metrics from your heart rate to sound sleep. Lenovo has really worked on the accuracy of the tracker which was a bit off in the earlier generations. We found that the error rate on this tracker is very marginal.

Lenovo HX03W lets you know the amount of deep sleep you got by using a bunch of sensors on board. The main USP of this product apart from the color display is the Active Heart Rate Monitor. Now the frequency taking a reading can be set using the app as per your usage.

Lenovo HX03W 2

Lenovo has gone with a simple Multi-layered user interface which can be tweaked according to your taste. You can switch between different metrics by just tapping on the capacitive button. For instance, if you tap and hold the capacitive button while on the main menu, you can change the watch faces and other metric as per your taste.

The biggest gripe here is with the Lenovo Healthy app which has still not been optimised. The app straight up asks you to keep it running in the background for notifications to come through and this whole process takes up a considerable amount of battery.

Lenovo Band App SS

Talking about the app layout, there are cards for steps, sleep and heart rate, wherein you get the complete report. The app displays historical data as well, by displaying in a graphical form. This can be useful for monitoring your health and making changes in your current patterns.

Verdict – Should you go for it?

The Lenovo HX03W offers a bunch of nifty features at a very competitive price point like active heart rate monitoring that isn’t available at this price. The band offers a plenty full of software customizations and color choices as well.

Considering the number of features Lenovo is offering in the HX03W and at that INR 1,999 makes it hard to pass.
