Air Pollution is the buzzword at this time of the season especially in the northern part of India. People have become aware of the risks, the pollution poses not only to sensitive people but to healthy individuals as well. For combating the issue, people have started investing in Air Purifier for their homes but we have neglected our cars wherein we spend a good amount of time. To cater to this specific need, Honeywell, a well-known brand launched their Move Pure range of car air purifiers.
A while back we reviewed their Move Pure 1 air purifier, now we have gen 2 with us for review. We tested the Honeywell Move Pure 2 air purifier for close to a week during our long commute and here are our thoughts on the product.
Design
The design is fairly minimalistic and the air purifier is the size of a set-top-box. The filter is on the top, while the power supply slot is on the back. There’s a display on the front that shows the Realtime pm2.5 level and next to it on the far end is the power button. The purifier sticks to the dashboard with the help of adhesive on the underside.
The filter is similar to the one found on the last generation. Same is the case with the two fans for air circulation.
Performance
The Honeywell Move Pure air purifier is rated at a clean air delivery rate (CADR) of 15 m3/hr which seems reasonable considering the size of the air purifier. The air purifier is capable of cleaning the air with PM2.5 and PM10 particles. Pollutants like pollen, dust, pet dander, mold spores, smoke, allergens and bacteria are all taken care of. The active carbon filter also removes odours and gases from the air and ensure total freshness.
The unit comes with two fans built in for effective cleaning. There is a one-touch button on the front along with the Real-time PM2.5 level counter. There are two speed modes, Low and Boost which are switched automatically depending on the quality of the air. The air purifier is silent for the most part, but you might hear a slight hum when the Boost mode kicks in. The purifier is power efficient and runs via the 12V adapter in the car.
During our testing, the air purifier was able to bring down the PM2.5 reading from 140 to 80 in a couple of minutes but going below 80 took a lot of effort.
