Google rolls out ‘best time to travel’ update for Maps

Google has rolled out a new update to its Maps application for Android users which tell users the best time to travel. The new feature is only available for Maps on Android, and it pops up when you input directions. After users update to the latest version of Google Maps, they will see newly added shortcuts on the home screen that will help them explore the app in quickly. This update is currently available in US and Britain.

Maps will show users a visual to convince them it might be better to leave to their destination an hour from now to avoid traffic. Also when the users open Google Maps app, they will instantly see a directions card with different modes of transportation. If users like to access a particular desired route on the go without using data, they can save the path to use it offline.

Home screen loads fast so that millions of people across the country who come online can discover and share great places, even during patchy internet connections. Google’s next step should be to add this feature for those in metropolitan areas who depend on public transit.
