Launched earlier this year, Google is expected to launch Chromebit CS10 – a full Chrome OS-based computer on an HDMI disk in India by January 2016. Manufactured by ASUS, the device is expected to be priced at Rs. 7,999, which is higher when compared to US price.
The Chromebit ships with a Rockchip RK3288 quad-core processor coupled with ARM Mali 760 quad-core GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB eMMC internal storage.
The device has one USB 2.0 and HDMI ports for connecting display and peripherals. It provides support for standard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a Smart Ready controller.
In order to work with Chromebit, you just need to connect it to any display – whether it’s a regular computer screen or a large TV via HDMI port and pair with Bluetooth enabled keyboard and mouse.
It will be difficult to connect wired input devices because the device contains only one USB port. However, the USB port in Chromebit has been placed in an easily accessible location either to connect external storage or wired peripherals.
You will be able to hide Chromebit behind your monitor or TV using the adhesive stick-on hoop-and-loop fastener. Powered by the latest version of Chrome OS, the device boots up in seconds and is capable of delivering Full-HD graphics performance.
ASUS Chromebit will be automatically updated with the latest version of Chrome OS as and when available and hence you will always get latest features with better virus protection.
You will be able to create separate accounts for each user. Hence, the device will be an ideal companion for users in a shared environment where more than one people work on the same display.
You will be able to make use of apps available on Chrome web store either online or offline. With the help of the apps, you will be able to extend the functionality of your device.
If you purchase ASUS Chromebit CS10, you will be eligible for free 100GB of Google Drive storage for the first two years from the acquisition date. Hence, you can store all your files in a secured place. Moreover, all your files are automatically synchronized to Google Drive.
You will get a free HDMI extender cable that you can use to connect your device in case if the HDMI port of your TV is on the back side along with Chromebit.
The ASUS Chromebit CS10 is similar to that of Intel Compute Sticks, which was released few months back by various manufacturers with Windows 10. It will be useful for students and business professionals. It can be used for online research, chatting, browsing or watching Full HD movies including gaming.
Chromebit CS10 will be bundled with 18W Power Adapter, HDMI Cable, HDMI extender, Warranty card and User manual. The device is expected to be available in both black and orange colors.
In addition to ASUS Chromebit CS10, Google is also planning to launch two new Chromebooks in association with Asus in January.
