Search giant Google Inc. has announced support of $500,000 in the form of grants to three NGOs in India working for child safety.
The grant was announced by Google India & South-East Asia Managing Director Rajan Anandan in a statement.
The three Non-profit organizations getting this grant are Childline India Foundation, Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Tulir.
The grant is aimed at developing smart applications and technology aimed at child safety programs. The grant has been made through Google.Org.
Childline India Foundation is a non-profit which works for children’s welfare.
It runs a toll-free number 1098 across India for children in need of help and protection. A child or a concerned adult can call this 24-Hour helpline to connect with a Childline volunteer any time.
Bachpan Bachao Andolan is an initiative to free children from bonded labor, human trafficking, and slavery.
Mr. Kailash Satyarthi founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan received Nobel Peace prize in 2014 for his and his NGO’s efforts towards child welfare.
Tulir is a non-profit working against child sex abuse in India. Tulir is a center for prevention and healing of child from sexual abuse. Tulir also offers a curriculum based course to help children prevent abuse.
Google believes that technology can play a role a significant role in bettering lives and transforming them. Google’s grant would be utilized by these NGO’s to build technology platforms and advocacy campaigns.
Google donates over $100 Million in grants, 80,000 man hours and $1 Billion in the form of products for a number of social causes across the globe.
