GTX Galax 2

The GeForce GTX 1660 is the newest turning based GPUs by Nvidia. A lot of OEMs have launched their own cards based on this architecture. In this review, we’ll talk about the Galax GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card. It comes with 2 x 90mm fans, supports 1 Click OC, and is based on the 12nm FinFit process. Design and Performance

Talking about display port options, the card comes with 1 DVI-D port, one HDMI port, as well as one display port. In my opinion, the manufacturer could have added more display ports. That said, you still get decent diversity when it comes to port options. The build quality is decent for the price point. It also comes with a protective backplate to offer complete protection that many cards in this range miss out on. The overall design is rather simple as it does not come with unnecessary frills that might add up to its cost.

Physical installation was straightforward with an extension 6 pin to 8pin PCI-E power cord. In terms of performance and gaming experience, I tried Grand Theft Auto V, Fortnite, and PUBG on this card. GTA V played at 60-70fps while running on 1080p settings. I also tried PUBG on maxed-out settings and consistently got 60fps. If you’re a Fotnite player, you can easily get frame rates in the range 60-80 fps on maxed-out settings.

All in all, the GALAX GeForce 1660 1 Click OC was able to churn out an average frame rate of over 60fps, which is the minimum for a good gaming experience. Therefore, this graphics card is almost perfect for a 1080p gaming setup. It can also run games at 2K and 4K resolution depending upon how demanding the graphics are. I tried running GTA V at 4K and frame rates would often drop below 30fps, making it rather unplayable.

Talking about heat dissipation, the card didn’t heat up a lot even after long hours of gaming. Now, this could primarily happen because of the fact that this card dissipates heat effectively. It has 90mm fan design with 2 fans that blow directly on the heatsink.

It also comes with an Xtreme Tuner software which you can use to do 1 Click overclock, making it slightly better than other offerings in the same price range. Once you press the 1-Click OC button in the software, this graphics card automatically overclocks itself to a preset clock. The feature essentially gives users a hassle-free way to boost the performance without having to tweak with other settings. Once you launch the application, the software automatically detects the card. It also provides key information such as current GPU and memory clocks.

As far as memory goes, it has a memory bandwidth of around 8000Mbps. It has a 6GB GDDR5 memory which delivers a memory interface width of around 192-bit. The card churns out 192GB of bandwidth per second.

Wrap Up

The Galax GeForce GTX 1660 is perfect for gamers and streamers who are looking for a solid performance on a tight budget. It churns out a healthy amount FPS in most AAA games while running on 1080p ultra settings. Based on turning architecture, it’s a great bargain for its price tag of INR 19,500. It also comes with a metallic backplate which protects it from dust and other external debris.

If you need a graphics card that doesn’t break the bank, this card fits the bill in price to performance ratio. All in all, it’s an amazing, low-cost, no bells and whistles graphics card. Not to mention, it also comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
