Facebook’s annual developer conference, F8 will be held on 12 and 13 April in San Francisco. While the conference is all set for a big start today, it is expected that Facebook will drop in few major features. While Facebook has not released any agendas for the conference set to begin at 9:30 pm (IST), several latest developments and updates are clues to most anticipated topics that might be discussed at the Fort Mason Center in the next few hours.
Following are few things that we expect Facebook will venture into:
Chatbots
Chatbot is not a new concept. Several apps are already using chatbots for enhancement in user experience. It is anticipated that Facebook might introduce an artificial intelligent (AI) chatbot to its messenger. This step, if taken, will be beneficial for businesses associated with Facebook and will increase their outreach.
Virtual Reality
Facebook dwelling into virtual reality is nothing new. One of the agendas of F8 2015 was the introduction of spherical 360-degree videos to news feeds. However, the efforts employed in favour of spherical videos were tepid it is entirely plausible to assume that Facebook might take some significant steps towards boosting virtual reality experience. The event also features a session on Oculus Rift, a virtual reality device.
Live videos
This could probably be one of the hottest topics that will be discussed at F8 2016. Facebook introduced a bunch of new features last week that allow users to stream live videos. Zuckerberg himself added the features to users in a live video on April 6, 2016. Although there were a few glitches during the live stream which made Facebook a center for negative attention. Tie-ups and mergers for sport broadcasting can be expected. A highly anticipated live video app may be released.
Apart from the topics mentioned above, Facebook will also entertain discussions on advancements in social media and methods on improving communications. The schedule for the conference also suggests an introduction to enhancements in e-commerce section.
