The much-awaited iPhone 7 will be released in September 2016 along with the new iPad and iOS 10. Like the past two years, the iPhone 7 will maintain the tradition and launch in two display variants.
While the iPhone 7 will be equipped with a 4.7-inch 3D touch display, the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to feature a large 5.5-inch display. Apple is planning to increase the display resolution in the iPhone 7 to enable users to use the device for reading and app navigation. Even though there are rumors about the launch of a 5-inch model, it is unlikely that Apple will release it.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus specs: A10 CPU, 3GB and 4GB RAM options
Coming to specifications, iPhone 7 will be powered by an Apple A10 processor paired with 2GB RAM and iPhone 7 Plus with a 4GB RAM running on the same processor with higher clock speed.
In all probability, Apple will ditch 16GB internal storage. Hence, you can expect 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage for both iPhone 7 and Plus versions. There is also a possibility of Apple releasing a 256GB ultra-storage model, which will ostensibly be oriented for business users.
The upcoming iPhone 7 is expected to bear a 12MP rear camera coupled with a 5MP front-facing snapper. An 8MP front sensor is also feasible, taking into account the current selfie trend among youngsters.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Camera: 16MP and 12MP Rear Camera, 5MP or 8MP Front Camera
As far as the iPhone 7 Plus is concerned, you can expect a 16MP rear camera. It doesn’t make any sense to bundle same camera specs in both low-end and high-end versions.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be released with iOS 10, which will most likely be unveiled next week, during WWDC 2016. Moreover, the new version will have enhanced customization options than the currently available iOS 9.
If rumors are to be believed, Apple will ditch the headphone jack port in both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and incorporate lightning connector. Instead of a 3.5 mm headphone, you will have to make use of Bluetooth headsets or headsets specially manufactured with the new port connector.
Talking about battery specifications, the new iPhone7 Plus will have more battery capacity than the iPhone 7. While the iPhone 7 will sport a 3,000mAh battery, the Plus variant will most likely accompany a 4,000mAh juice pack.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus battery: 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh respectively
As per rumors, Apple will most likely incorporate fast charging functionality into both the devices. But there are some quarters, which say that this feature is highly unlikely. Moreover, you can also expect waterproofing functionality since Apple is reportedly working on to add the feature in both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Some analysts presume that Cupertino will add waterproof function only in the iPhone 7 Plus.
