The Android 8.0 was announced this year on 21 August and promised to be first upgraded on the smartphones like Pixel and Nexus smartphones. However, the phone makers like BlackBerry, Nokia, HTC, and Sony has also confirmed that they will be rolling out the latest version of OS. However, the smartphones which were launched in 2015 or earlier would not get this update.
Nonetheless, the XDA Developers; the community of custom ROMs have rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo custom AOSP ROM’s for few select smartphone like Xiaomi Red Mi Note 3 (Snapdragon variants), Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 5, Mi Max, Samsung Galaxy S6, Asus ZenFone 5, Motorola Nexus 6, LG Nexus 5, OnePlus One, Sony Xperia SP, Xperia TX, Xperia T and Xperia V.
While on the other hand, the Lineage OS 15 ROM is currently available for the variants like Moto G5 Plus, OnePlus X, OnePlus 2, OnePlus 3 and 3T, Sony Xperia M2, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 4C, Redmi 3, Yu Yunique, ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone Selfie, LeEco Le Max 2, HTC One M8, One M8 Dual SIM, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, Moto G, Moto X (2014), Moto E (2015), Moto G (2015).
To install the latest Android 8.0 Oreo build, follow these steps precisely
1. Download Custom ROM in the internal storage of your device.
2. Reboot into Custom Recovery via TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) or CWM (Clockwork Mod).
3. Create a backup of previous ROM.
4. Wipe System.
5. Install Custom ROM Zip file.
6. Reboot.
However, the stable version of Android 8.0 oreo is now rolled out to select devices such as the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6X, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.
