Lenovo Vibe K5 Note, K4 Note, more to receive Android 7.0 Nougat update next month

A slew of Lenovo smartphones are reportedly scheduled to get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update.

While the company is yet to announce the list of devices scheduled to get the update, several reports suggest the likes of Lenovo ZUK Z2, Vibe K5 Note, and Vibe K4 Note are confirmed to get the Android Nougat firmware upgrade.

Android Nougat coming to select Lenovo smartphones

The rollout will likely begin as early as next month, or at least before the end of the year. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to release the Android Nougat 7.0 update to the Lenovo ZUK Z2, Lenovo Z2 Pro, Lenovo Vibe K5 Note, Lenovo Vibe X3, Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, Lenovo Vibe Phab 2, Lenovo Phab 2 Plus, and Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.

However, the likes of the Lenovo ZUK Z1, and Lenovo Vibe Phab Plus series will not get the Android Nougat update due to compatibility issues between Nougat’s Vulcan API and Snapdragon 801.

Android Nougat releasing to Nexus devices

The search engine giant has already started rolling out Android Nougat update to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9 and it’s Android One devices. Android One phones now become the second wave of devices after the Nexus range who receive the new Android OS upgrades. The Cherry Mobile G1 is reportedly one of the first Android One smartphones to get the latest Android Nougat update. The update started rolling out on August 22. Besides, Google also announced the LG V20 to be the first smartphone to come with Android Nougat 7.0 pre-installed.

Android Nougat Features

The latest Android Nougat offers several improvements and features such as better multitasking, new emojis, and enhanced battery life. In Android Nougat, Google has also overhauled the Doze mode which now activates itself as soon the phone’s screen goes off. Besides, it also works even when the phone is in motion, unlike Android Marshmallow where your phone had to be at rest for the feature to work.

Besides, Google has also introduced an improved Notifications panel in Android Nougat. As users can now tap on some notifications directly via the notifications panel, and respond to messages and emails,  doing away the need to open the separately. For now, Gmail, Messenger, and Hangouts are equipped with this quick-reply feature.

Android Nougat offers a new way of multi-tasking with the Split-screen feature, implying that you can work on two apps simultaneously, doing away the need to switch back and forth between the two.
