BSNL targets to complete 4G roll-out in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh by March 2018

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) sets eye on completing its project of providing 4G-Coverage to 550 locations of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by the end of the current fiscal year, confirmed BSNL Telangana Circle Chief General Manager L Anantharam in an official release. As upheld by the senior official of BSNL, the company has selected a total of 1,150 4G locations from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for installing its 4G services, and by March 2018, the project will be completed.

The legal and official tender formalities for providing 4G services are finished, and the Indian state-owned telecom operator is all set to start working on the project soon. According to a report of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), BSNL holds the 14.54% market share of the broadband market in 2015 and was placed in the 4th rank market share, while as a wireless provider, the agency has been ranked 6th with an average of 8.16% market share.

4G services from the company have already been delivered to 4G spectrum in multiple circles in India, and the launch of its high-speed data service in 550 more locations of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will enrich its market position more than ever. As told by BSNL Telangana Chief, the combined AP Circle including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has recorded with the maximum number of BSNL SIM activations in South Zone in the Quarter 1 of current fiscal year.

In the Q1 Of 2017, a total of 4,27,209 BSNL SIMs have been active in the combined AP circle, and BSNL has earned a whopping amount of Rs 2,500 crore revenue from the circle of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana only during the fiscal period of 2016-17.After experiencing such a remarkable revenue target, BSNL is now hoping to maintain the momentum for this fiscal too.

Adding to the statement, Anantharam also said that Telangana circle of BSNL features custom-built Wi-Fi services under “BSNL 4G PLUS” in multiple highlighted locations as well as public places all through the state. As of now, the high-speed Wi-Fi services are launched in 63 locations under Phase-I, together with 11 rural exchanges, and now the agency is prepping up for commissioning its Wi-Fi service in 58 more locations by August 2017. After completing this project, BSNL will move forward to tailor the Wi-Fi service in Phase II including 130 more locations in the state

Through e-KYC, BSNL has begun the process of re-verifying the existing customers and has asked customers to link their BSNL mobile number with their respective Aadhaar number. As per the order of Supreme Court, this is mandatory for all existing BSNL customers to re-verify their SIM and link their number with Aadhaar number.
