Xiaomi Redmi 3 is expected to ship with a 4,100 mAh battery, dual SIM with card expansion slot and Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The specifications were leaked ahead of the scheduled launch of the device in China on January 12, 2016.
The teaser that was released on Weibo revealed the backside with speaker grills and camera on the top left side. It features a unique plaid-like pattern on the back side to provide proper grip during usage. It is also widely reported that the pattern is based on the stars in the night sky.
The leaked smartphones are codenamed Mi 2015811 and Mi 2015812, which implies that there could be two variants of Redmi 3. The first model is expected to feature a 5-inch display. The model with the second code will include a 5.5-inch display.
Xiaomi Redmi 3 will also offer reverse charging feature, which enables you to charge other devices via USB OTG.
Xioami Redmi 3 is expected to feature 5-inch HD IPS display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 13MP primary camera, 5MP front-facing shooter and Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. The 5.5-inch display variant will also include the same specification. The internal storage for both the devices can be expanded up to 128GB.
The interesting point to note is that the weight of the upcoming devices is rumoured to be around 145 grams, which is low for a smartphone with a 4,100 mAh battery. The battery is almost the double the size of Xiaomi Redmi 2, which had 2,200mAh.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is expected to be available in India towards the end of Q1 2016.
