Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router:

The router boasts 6TB built-in memory and is capable of offering improved transfer speeds as to extend for its customers a convenient new hub for storing their digital content (photos and videos). The earlier iteration had just 1TB storing capacity.

“One of the problems many people face at home is that their internet bandwidth isn’t large enough for high-definition videos to be streamed smoothly, especially when another family member is also downloading something.

Photographers and users who have a lot of videos and pictures will also find it very useful to have their multimedia content stored in a place that can be easily accessed by all their terminals, including their mobile phones and television.

That’s why a router with very quick connectivity and very large storage, which was also beautifully designed, had to be made,” said Lei Jun the chairman and founder of the company.

The new Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi will deliver high-speed connectivity. It supports 802.11 ac standard and is powered by a dual-core 1.4GHz Broadcom 4709c processor, clubbed with 512MB of RAM. Moreover, the device increases the 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band performance by 100 percent and 30 percent respectively.

As for storage, the Mi Wi-Fi router also has the ability to back up images from cameras or smartphones and store them. Xaomi reports media stored in the router is also accessible remotely via the Android and iOS apps.

The devices’ launch details outside China have not been revealed yet. However, customers can select 1TB of storage for 699 yuan (US$113) or 6TB for 2,999 yuan. Both versions will be open for sale on Xiaomi’s website on June 18.
