Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to reportedly launch as Xiaomi Mi Pro on September 14

If rumors are to be believed, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be called as Xiaomi Mi Pro and will arrive on September 14. The Mi Note 2 is actively doing several rounds in rumor mills for the last three months. We have been getting new information about the forthcoming flagship device once in every week.

Xiaomi Pro Weibo account created

The latest rumor of the branding of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to Xiaomi Mi Pro comes in the wake of the fact that a new account with the name “Xiaomi Mi Pro” has been created on Weibo. This has led to a huge speculation that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could be possibly named as Xiaomi Mi Pro.

According to industry analysts, the naming of Mi Note 2 to Xiaomi Mi Pro is highly possible since the company has already released a “Pro” variant in the Redmi Series such as Xiaomi Redmi Pro. When the name “Pro” pops up, the first thing that comes to the picture is the highly popular Meizu Pro flagship series smartphones.

Naming of “Xiaomi Mi Pro” to compete with Meizu

By naming Mi Note 2 as Mi Pro, Xiaomi is gearing up to tap the smartphone market grabbed by Meizu. The company believes that if the next flagship is given the “Pro” name, then it will boost the sales to a large extent. To recall, Xiaomi has been down in the Chinese smartphone market with Meizu and Vivo leading the race.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specifications

On the specifications front, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 features a 5.7-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB) loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.

If Xiaomi manages to release the Mi Note 2 before September end, then it will be the second smartphone in the market with Android 7 after LG V20. Previously, LG has tapped the Android 7.0 market by introducing LG V20 smartphone with dual display capability.

Expected to launch on September 14, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will also provide support for 3D Touch and fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the new device will have MIUI 8 pre-loaded into the device. We expect Xiaomi to bundle Mi Pay app with the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2.
