Xiaomi launches Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 with SD632 and dual cameras in India

As expected, the Chinese giant Xiaomi has now finally launched the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 smartphones in India. The Redmi Y3 is the successor to last year’s Redmi Y2, whereas the Redmi 7 will be succeeding the Redmi 6 in the entry-level market.

Redmi Y3: Specs, Features

As for the specs, the Redmi Y3 sports a 6.26” (15.9cm), HD+ Dot Notch Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 backed by an Aura design. Furthermore, it’ll be offered in Elegant Blue, Bold Red, and Prime Black colours.

Under the hood, the handset gets powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC coupled with Adreno™ 506 GPU, up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

For photography, the Redmi Y3 gets an AI dual camera set up at the back, comprising of 12+2MP combination. For selfies, there’s a whopping 32MP shooter with a pixel size of 1.6μm, situated in the notch. Notably, the camera app comes with AI features and Google lens integration.

Moreover, the handset runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 9. That said, a massive 4,000mAh battery backs all of this.

Redmi 7: Specs, Features

 

Coming to the Redmi 7, it bears a similar 6.26-inch 19:9 HD+ Dot Notch display with the company’s Aura Design and Gorilla Glass 5. The phone will go for sale in Lunar Red, Comet Blue, and Eclipse Black colours.

Under the hood, the Redmi 7 is also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC with 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of storage.

For photography, the phone adopts a 12MP + 2MP dual AI camera setup at the rear, similar to the Note 7 and Y3. Whereas, the one up front is an 8MP shooter for selfies. It further brings certain features like PDAF, AI Portrait mode and AI Scene Detection.

The handset runs MIUI 9 and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. Lastly, there is a fingerprint sensor onboard as well with dual-SIM support, 3.5mm audio jack, IR blaster, hydrophobic nano-coating, and a dedicated microSD card slot.

 

Redmi Y3, Redmi 7: Price & Availability

The Redmi Y3 price in India starts at Rs. 9,999 for the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The 4/64GB model, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 11,999. It’ll be available in Bold Red, Elegant Blue and Prime Black starting 12 noon on 30th April via Mi.com, Amazon and Mi Homes.

Whereas, the Redmi 7 is offered at Rs 7,999 for the 2GB+32GB variant and Rs. 8,999 for the 3GB+32GB variant in Eclipse Black, Comet Blue and Lunar Red options. It’ll go live starting 12 noon on 29th April via Mi.com, Amazon and Mi Homes.
